New Skype Project Oklahoma<--->Khmelnitskiy

Bertha L. Wise, a Professor of English, Coordinator of Multi-Divisional Programs Oklahoma City Community College and Nina A.Lyulkun, an Associate Professor  at Khmelnitskiy National University, Ukraine have arranged the students' meeting online via Skype. Students were supposed to have found some background information about Ukraine in preparation since most had no prior knowledge. 

Ukrainian students were excited to meet American peers to get acquainted and communicate for a little while. The day before the meeting,  the tech support people (Mr.Tim) wished to run a test connection in advance, just to see how it would all work. Everything was ready to start. 

Vitalina Dunets, a 3-d year student of Finance, was the luckiest of all to talk to the group of students from Oklahoma City Community College. We were happy to see our national embroided towel on the table. We all are very much grateful to dear Prof. Bertha Wise and students for the decorations made in Ukrainian style. 

We all hope to arrange more meetings in the nearest future and answer and ask more questions about our countries to make our students feel closer and aware about similarities and differences of our cultures.

Good morning, dear Global Oklahoma Coordinating Committee:

Wow.  It was the best ever!   What a fantastic day at Rose State College.  The campus was truly a global village from one end to the other with the glorious weather and the sights and sounds of Irish music and Japanese drumming, to Edgar Cruz and Kyle Dillingham and the Ridgecrest Glee Club, to the smiles and laughter of the children and families, the smell of Irish stew and Mexican tacos, to the limericks and the Duck Pond. And on to Fernando Padilla and his beautiful art creations, the Boy Scouts, student clubs, the Italians of Central Oklahoma, the Scandinavian Club, Tuskegee Airmen, and Zonta International, the Scavenger Hunt, Hurling, the Ireland featured tent, the youth art, sword-fighting and the doves of peace…Global Oklahoma 2010 was an amazing and fun day at Rose State College.  More than 3,500-4,000 individuals were involved as guests, volunteers, entertainers, exhibitors and food vendors.

It was through your efforts that this was possible!

Sure we had our competition, the OU-Texas Game, Las Americas in Capitol Hill, The Bluegrass Festival in Guthrie, the Czech Festival in Yukon, but in WE had it all…..a global experience.   Rose State College was the place to be on Saturday!

We now turn our attention to the many thank you letters we send to thank those involved and ask them to help us evaluate all areas of the festival, and then we will have a wrap up meeting in October after we have a chance for the evaluations to come in, and gather some photos.  On the meeting day, let’s all wear our awesome shirts and beads!

My sincere personal thanks for all you did to make this year’s Global Oklahoma a fantastic Irish Ceili and one for the record books.

Yes, done!

Fortunately, Tayler managed to let me in the Festival through Skype. Thanks a lot for the good job. It's a pity being unable to talk to other people, but the show was fantastic. Really great job by the organizing Committee. Thanks a lot, dear Lisa Price. You and your team Rock!

Global Olkahoma Festival of Cultures has started

The Festival of Cultures has started already. Andrey Dunets and Vitalina Dunets have been waiting for taking part in through Skype. Vitalina has got webcam and earphones with mic this time to be ready to communicate and enjoy the event. Though, the talk was very short a couple of minutes only. Perhaps, Skype connection was very busy this year, and Tyler was unable to give us more time to communicate with people. Anyway, Anrew managed to take some pictures. Here they are:

At the Festival Eve

Dear Global Oklahoma Committee:

The set up is nearing completion in preparation for our guests tomorrow.  The Physical Plant is doing an great job.  It is so exciting to see it all become a reality! Please come out to the mall anytime and let us know if you have any questions at all and any needs to make sure you have everything you need for tomorrow.  It will be an awesome weather day and we are so lucky. I have a feeling The Luck of the Irish is with us this year!
